Notes:

From our kitchen
  • You can steam, boil, or roast the potatoes. Any method works as long as they’re very soft.
  • Mash the potatoes while they are hot for the smoothest texture.
  • A potato masher works best, but a sturdy fork is just fine.
  • You can use any milk you like.

Make it yours
  • Adjust the butter, milk, and salt to match your taste.
  • Add garlic powder, black pepper, or a pinch of dried herbs or parsley.
  • Use part cream, half-and-half, or plant milk if you prefer.

At the table
  • Serve with stews, roasted chicken, or grilled vegetables.
  • Spoon into a warm bowl and top with a little extra butter.
  • A simple salad on the side turns it into an easy, comforting meal.

FROM THE PANTRY

Potato

WHY WE LOVE IT

Potatoes are generous. They turn even the quietest meals into something complete and they always feed you.

A LITTLE STORY

Once surrounded by mystery, the potato was called “apples of love” in Shakespeare’s time & considered a delicacy. From the Andes to Europe and then to kitchens around the world, today it is the world’s third most important food crop.

DID YOU KNOW?

Potatoes are about 80% water and natural source of vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. The world’s largest potato weighed over 11 pounds (5 kg). International Potato Day is May 30, and National Potato Day in the U.S. is August 19.
