Light yet comforting, this simple dessert sets beautifully with just the right touch of sweetness. Perfect on its own or topped with chocolate shavings, toasted nuts, or whipped cream.
Use strong brewed coffee or espresso for the best flavor. Weak coffee will make the pudding taste flat.
You can use instant coffee if you don’t have brewed coffee or espresso. Dissolve 1–2 tsp instant coffee in ½ cup hot water. For a stronger coffee flavor, increase to 2½ tsp.
Make it yours
Add ½ tsp cinnamon for a warm spice flavor.
Stir in 1–2 tbsp cocoa powder with the dry ingredients for a mocha version.
Replace coconut topping with toasted hazelnuts, almonds, or pistachios.
Serve with whipped cream or chocolate shavings for a richer dessert.
For a lighter sweetness, reduce sugar slightly and top with fresh berries.
Adjust the strength of the pudding by changing the milk-to-coffee ratio. More milk makes it milder, while more coffee gives a stronger flavor.
At the table
Serve this pudding well chilled as a simple dessert or afternoon treat.
For presentation, pour into small glasses and top with coconut, cocoa powder, chocolate shavings, toasted hazelnuts or almonds, or whipped cream.
