Kitchen Tools:
Notes:
- Use 80/20 ground beef for the best flavor and juiciness.
- Let the beef brown well before stirring to develop deeper flavor.
- If you prefer a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken.
- Use burger seasoning instead of individual spices if you prefer.
- Use any greens mix instead of romaine such as iceberg, arugula, or spring mix.
- Swap cheddar for pepper jack or American cheese.
- Add sautéed mushrooms or peppers for extra flavor.
- Add caramelized onions: cook sliced onions in a little olive oil with a pinch of salt over medium-low heat for 10–15 minutes until golden.
- Add avocado slices for extra creaminess.
- Top the bowl with crispy fries for a fun cheeseburger-and-fries bowl.
- Serve with roasted potatoes, French fries, or pita chips.

Burger bowls
WHY WE LOVE IT
Burger bowls offer all the flavors of a classic cheeseburger in a lighter, customizable format. By replacing the bun with fresh greens or other bases, they create a balanced meal with plenty of texture, color, and flavor.
A LITTLE STORY
While the modern “food bowl” trend is relatively recent, the idea of enjoying seasoned ground beef without bread dates back to the original Hamburg steak from 19th-century Germany. Today’s burger bowl simply reimagines those flavors in a fresh, build-your-own style.
DID YOU KNOW?
Food bowls became especially popular in the early 2000s as restaurants and home cooks embraced customizable meals built in a single bowl. They are now one of the most common modern dinner formats, from grain bowls to taco bowls and burger bowls.
